  1. Hi Shane! My name is Joel and I will be praying for you this week. I bet you’re excited and maybe a little nervous to start this adventure. I pray that God keeps you safe – that he protects you physically but also mentally and emotionally. I’m praying that you will have an open heart and open mind this week and that you will learn more about yourself, about the others that are with you and mostly learn more about God. God loves you and wants you to have an awesome life and I pray that this week if full of wonderful things.

I’m sure it won’t always be easy this week but I know you can do it. Have an amazing adventure!

It’s amazing to think that one week can change the course of our lives but it’s totally possible. Take some time this week to think about your hopes and dreams and what you want your life to be like. God has amazing things in store for you!!

  5. Hi Shane,
We are praying a special prayer for you tonight as we know that sometimes its difficult to see the light beyond the darkness. As the father of teen that has been through WAR I can tell you that there are much brighter days ahead, give yourself a chance to experience the most of this opportunity. May your heart be open and may GOD give you a sign that he is watching over you. Hear what Pat and the other sharing with you, what do you have to lose, this is your week!

  6. Hey, Bud! We’ve seen pictures and it looks like you are having fun! I know that you probably did awesome on the climbing wall because you always do great at the Kroc. 8. Shaneโ€ฆi am so glad you are at RR. i look forward to getting to know you and look forward to our time of sharing over the next months. i hope you will make good notes in your journal and share them when we get together. when we first met you mentioned how much you enjoy wrestling…i hope you take time to read the story of Jacob (Gen. 32: 24-29) who wrestled with God, and was blessed by God…God has a blessing for you. have a God time this week.

  9. Hi Shane,

I haven’t met you but I am friends with leader Kevin from church. I am praying for you and the guys at RR. God is so mighty and powerful but loves you so much. John 3:16.

  10. Shane,

Thinking of and praying for you today. It’s been fun to see pictures of you and the boys. Hope you are enjoying every minute of it and learning what God is trying to teach you.

  11. Shane, hope you had an amazing day today. We are watching pole vaulters in the Olympics and thinking of you. J says hi. Still praying that God would work in amazing ways in your life.
    Love you tons, mom

  12. I hope you’re having a good week! Praying that God would teach you awesome things this week. Dan and Munson say hi! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Love you!

  13. Hey Shane!
I heard you were at camp and I could leave you a message!!!
You are incredibly special to the VanderZee family (and many others). I’m so happy that you are a part of our lives. God’s plans are bigger than ours, but we’ve seen the evidence of that in your life already. God’s plans will continue to work themselves out in your life. I hope you are reminded of that this week, and that you feel His love.
    Praying for you!!!

  14. Hi Shane!
I love seeing your smile on these pics. It appears that you are going to be challenged this week. You are not afraid of hard work, so you will do great.

I miss you. I have plans for my six “grandkids” next week, so you will have a chance to fill me in on your adventures.

    Take care. Love you!

  15. Hey Shaner,
J and Noah both started football…The coaches are very anxious for you to be there next week! They are excited for you to be at camp though. Have fun, and pursue Jesus.

    Love you,

  16. Good Morning Shane,

I hope you are finding your grove. That you are building relationships with the other boys and the leaders. I’m enjoying reading about all of the amazing things you guys are doing. What a great opportunity.

Make the most of your time this week. I pray that it can be a positive experience for you even when things are tough, when you are tired or when others are challenging.

It might seem kinda weird that someone you don’t know is thinking about you and praying for you but I am! I have a 17 year old son and often get reminded of the challenges of being a teenager. God has a wonderful plan for you and learning to trust him can be hard but totally worth it.

  17. Hi Shane,
It’s great being able to know what you are doing through the pictures and notes posted on the website.

Are you a pro with the water sports? Have you figured out which horse we should have on the farm? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have fun, be honest, and open your heart to the Holy Spirit’s message for your life. I’m praying for you!

  18. Hey Shane,

I look forward to hearing about your camp experience. I can’t believe they can work you any harder than you work on the farm. I am praying for you!! I believe in prayer and I believe in you. See you at the farm soon.

  19. Hi Shane.

I’m bummed that I didn’t get a chance to see you show off what you’ve learned with your horse this week. It’s interesting how the horses can be used to teach skills like problem solving and other things – in addition to just learning how to handle a horse!

I’m praying for you as you start your Manistee trip. I’m sure it will be fun but maybe also tiring and frustrating. Don’t give up! You will learn that you are capable of much more than you imagine. God will help you through the tough parts and make sure you savor the whole experience – the good and the bad. I pray that you are connecting with the other boys and with your leaders and mostly with God.

  20. Hey Shane –

You don’t know me but I wanted to drop a note to just say that I’m praying for you this week. Our good friend Kevin is one of your leaders this week and my big brother Dave is another one of your leaders.

People like me, who love our friend Kevin and my brother Dave know that our God is a God of HUGE things – in fact – things that you might think are impossible. I pray that you see His power and might and feel His unconditional love. I hope and pray that you’ll open your heart to the God of the universe this week. The Savior of the world made you uniquely in His image and loves you just as you are!!

Shane – you’re on an adventure of a lifetime this week and with God on your side, there’s nothing stopping you!!

  21. Shane,

Praying for you as you start your next adventure. We love you and pray daily that God will work his mighty power in your life and you will realize that he alone is your source of love and acceptance. Can’t wait to hear about everything you have been doing.

  22. Shane,

Have a great day on the trail today. I’m sure it will be challenging but I know you can do it. I keep praying for you this week that you will be safe and that you will grow as a person, make new friendships and that God will show you that he loves you and has an awesome plan for your life.

  23. Two more days! Hope you are having a wonderful time roughing it. Make sure you ask daddy about his backpacking and canoeing trip with Uncle Tom. I think he only ate peanut M&M’s the entire week! Love you and can’t wait to hear all about how Jesus has worked in your life this week and everything you’ve learned. Love you!

  24. Shane! The pictures are great. I’d love to go hiking there, but would not like to stay in a tent where there might be big and little animals and bugs that want to visit me.

I am happy for you that you have this experience to learn more about God and how He changes hearts. I am so excited to hear about your experiences.

    Love you!

  25. SHANE!
I’ve been thinking of you guys since I saw you Thursday with your snacks. Please remember what we talked about – there will be people all of your life who disrespect you or offend you. How YOU respond is what matters. Brush it off and walk away…’s the strong thing to do! I pray you are opening up, being strong, having faith and realizing all the amazing potential I and so many others see in you!

    Be good dude!!!!

  26. Shane –

I can’t believe your amazing journey is coming to an end. My hope is that you life’s journey and relationship with God is just beginning. I hop you can take the things you learned this week and can use them to have a positive impact on your life. I’m praying that God is moving in your life and will pave the way for great things for you!!
