  1. As we prepare for your journey, I recall the time I went to camp for a week; the excitement, the nervousness I felt being around kids I didn’t know, fear of doing something that would result In getting teased or laughed. You have the ability to be a leader, and know in our hearts through prayer and hard work, your true demeanor will arise. We are very proud of you! You know we all have our vices, but it is how you react that defines you as a person, and as a young man.

Ephesians 4:31-32:“Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others. Don’t yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude. Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ.”

    Love you,
    Dad

  2. Hi Thad – I wanted you to know that I and my family have been praying for you for the last few weeks. We are so excited for the new journey that you and your family will begin tomorrow. You are probably feeling nervous, overwhelmed, etc, but just know that the men you will be surrounded by (my husband is Kevin – one of the youth leaders) truly care about you and want what is best for you. God has brought this opportunity to your family for a reason and for this specific timing. From knowing the teens in our past programs, being a part of WAR has been one of their favorite memories. I am praying that it will be the same for you. My past is very similar to yours in so many ways…..that is why I know God gave me the privilege of being your prayer partner. I was a military brat who lived in 4 different countries and 3 different states during the first 10 years of my life. There was a lot of growing up I had to do as my dad was usually never home as he was deployed and my mother was very absent during my childhood. I was angry for many years and only after coming to know Jesus as my savior have I been able to see that God used all that craziness of never feeling like having a “home” or normal childhood to making me a stronger person. I have a feeling that you are stronger, braver and more awesome than you think or know you are 🙂 I am specifically praying that during the next 9 days, you will begin to see who God really is, that you will experience his unconditional love for you and that He can show you all the amazing gifts and traits that he created you with. For your family who loves you with all their hearts, may this be a time where God can work in them too. May God open your eyes to the love that he has for you by giving you the family that he did. Many blessings!!!

  3. Thad – I hope you really enjoyed your first day being at the beach and doing some fun things at camp! I saw a picture of you on the high ropes course. I have a fear of heights, so way to go – great job!! Praying that today will be another day of building friendships with the other boys and that you can begin working on you! Respect is so important in every aspect of life and it is great that it is what you and the other chose to practice this week. Respecting God, your parents, authority, your friends, your community, your planet, even yourself is a sure way to being a better and successful person. Be blessed today!

  4. It sure looks like you are having fun! Hope you are having fun and learning a lot about yourself and God! Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

    Love Dad

  5. Good morning Thad! What a great second day of WAR! I thought of you this morning when reading my devotional. This is the verse I read: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way”. Psalm 139:23-24. God already knows your heart and all your thoughts, but allowing him and inviting him in, you allowing him to reveal more to you about things that you could never see from just your perespective. Open your heart to Him today and let him reveal things to you. When you surrender to God, his love covers all your wrong doings…….I hope you were touched by Kevin’s testimony last night as he is a walking reflection of God’s redeeming love. Be blessed today!

  6. Thad…i am so glad you are at RR. i look forward to getting to know you and look forward to our time of sharing over the next months. i hope you will make good notes in your journal and share them when we get together. when we first met you mentioned that you like to climb…hope you have had fun on the climbing wall. Saturday AM you mentioned to me that you would prefer not to change schools, i have been thinking about that and praying for you …in my life i have often preferred to do something different than what i was forced to do…at my age as i look back, it has often been those difficult changes and times that have made me grow and become a better man and leader. have a God time this week.

  7. Thad – I think you were one of the boys that allowed Jalen to skateboard over you….crazy! Hope you are having an amazing time….this week flies by fast so make it count, and make some great friendships!!!

    1. Timothy 1-7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. I know you are a fearless young man, the above scripture in my eyes, has your name all over it! You are fearless and have power and love. I know in my heart this journey your taking this week will help your self control! Your a truly amazing young man!

      Love, Dad

  8. Hi there Thad,

I haven’t met you before but i am friends with leader Kevin from church. I will be praying for you and the other guys at RR this week. God has something special in store for you! He loves you unconditionally and sent His son to die for your sins. Ponder that for a few minutes and it can blow your mind on a good way! Keep looking up and He will guide you through this week.

  9. Thad-Hi. Fun to read about what is going on already at camp! Can you believe you are a couple of days into this great adventure? My son Kevin is one of your leaders. I am sure you will hear his story too. If not, ask him about the amazing journey God has taken him on. I will be praying for peace, patience, and that you too will accept Jesus into your heart. He has an amazing journey planned for you also. Have a blast.

  10. Hi Buddy! I am excited for you to experience camp! Looks like you’re having many great adventures and many great lessons. 11. Hi Thad,
I’m a friend of Kevin’s from church. I just wanted you to know that I’m praying that you will really allow God to take over your life this week. He loves you so much and wants to do a great work in your heart.
My prayer for you today comes from Psalm 86:11.
“Teach Thad your way, O Lord, and he will walk in your truth; give Thad an undivided heart.”
Have a fun week. I know God will do great things in you!
    Sarah

  12. Not too long now before you head out into the woods and trails! I know God will be right there next to you every step you take. Make sure you see God’s creation all around and remember the God that made all this made you to be His son.
Can’t wait to hear about the trip.

  13. Thad, I think about you every day! You are an amazing young man! It looks like you have mastered the horse in your sleep (looks like your sleeping on the horse) As I prayed for you today the scripture below came to my mind.

    Romans 5:4
And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

    Love you,
    Dad

  14. Thad,
How amazing that you got to have some riding lessons. Wish I could see the show tonight but celebrating my birthday with family. I will look for pictures or maybe even a video! I always loved horse back riding.

I prayed for you last night that you would learn trust not only in team members, leaders but also that you will lean on God for all you need. All you have to do is ask Him into your heart and then just talk with Him whenever you need Him. It is such an awesome gift and I pray you will receive experience it.

  15. Thad,

I saw that picture of you with your hand on the horse’s nose, and thought🤔 “I have a picture almost like that!” I will have to show you when you get home! I am extremely proud of you and your efforts! Today, as I prayed I thought about trust, the verse below came to me through prayer and I truly believe in you; for you are not afraid, and you have courage.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

  16. Thad it looks like you are having a great time. While you are at camp learning and experiencing new things, we are working on us at home. We are not only praying for you son, but also for us. We love you so much. Dad and I are leaning to pray together. Families that pray together, stay together.
I look at your pictures from camp and i have noticed you are looking so much like your dad.

  17. Hi Thad! I wish I could have come to watch your horse show tonight, but am excited to meet you on Sunday! Today I read a verse that really reminded me of what an amazing and gracious God we have. “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are those who wait for him”. Isaiah 30:18. My prayer for you tonight is that you will begin to see that no matter what choices you have made and will make, good or bad, God wants to show you grace and compassion…that doesn’t mean there will not be consequences for bad choices – you still will have consequences to deal with, but you don’t have to live in shame because of them. May you find that freedom in Christ! Praying also that the next few days will be an adventure of a lifetime roughing it out in the woods!!!

  18. Thad your father and I read the ranch facebook page every morning. You made us cry happy tears this morning. The Holly Spirit is strong and working through you. Instead of falling into the negative darkness, you and 3 other got up and prayed. I told you over and over you have the makings of a great leader if you learned to use the gifts God gave you in a positive way. You have a beautiful heart and i love that about you. I can not wait to hug you again soon.

  19. Hey Thad –

You don’t know me but I wanted to drop a note to just say that I’m praying for you this week. Our good friend Kevin is one of your leaders this week and my big brother Dave is another one of your leaders.

People like me, who love our friend Kevin and my brother Dave know that our God is a God of HUGE things – in fact – things that you might think are impossible. I pray that you see His power and might and feel His unconditional love. I hope and pray that you’ll open your heart to the God of the universe this week. The Savior of the world made you uniquely in His image and loves you just as you are!!

Thad – you’re on an adventure of a lifetime this week and with God on your side, there’s nothing stopping you!!

  20. Hi Buddy
Bub is here visiting and we have been following your adventures everyday. It just warms my heart to see you surrounded by so much love and have that love radiate through you!
Christian wanted me to tell you Thank you so much for the necklace. He said it’s the coolest and how awesome of you to think of him. He really loves it!

I am getting so excited to hold you and hear all your amazing stories! I can’t wait!

I love and miss you so very much!
    Love Always
    Mommy

  21. Hi Thad. Imagine right now you are in the thick of things but hope you are enjoying this adventure without too many mosquitos! I don’t believe you can read this today but hope it will help in the future. These are words of hope from Psalm 55:
Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me…
My heart is in anguish within me; horror has overwhelmed me. I said “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest…
I would hurry to my place of shelter far from the tempest and storm..”
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken!!! parts of Psalm 55-God’s promises to you.
I pray for this rest and shelter for you that I know God will give.

  22. Thad, I can imagine this journey for you has been fun, thrilling, exciting, exhausting and frustrating, but more so, enlightening! I cannot express in words how proud I am of you and through the pictures and updates how I have seen you grow as a person and young man!

Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.

    Love, Dad

  23. Thad – what an adventure to be in the woods with a group of guys all while it is storming outside! Praying for you and everyone else’s safety today and that God will move the storms along so that you can enjoy your final night with everyone. I can not wait to meet you tomorrow and am excited to hear about your God encounters during the week!!

  24. Thad,
The week is done already. Leaving for church and will be singing praises to God that He brought you into His arms! And all the others. There will be a huge celebration at both home on earth and Home in heaven today!!!!
