  1. Good Morning Kabita,

My name is Matt Baumbach and I’ll be praying for you this week. I live in Byron Center but am currently in North Carolina and it’s 75 degrees and sunny. Like you I am away from home for a week on a very exciting trip. I am with my family and I know that you are not so I am praying today that you will feel God’s presence as you start this journey. I pray that you will feel his love and comfort. I pray that you will experience al the great things that this trip has in store for you.
    God Bless,

    Matt B

  2. Hi Kabita my name is Melissa.
I’m so excited to be on this journey with you and offer encouragement & support.
I am a huge fan of inspirational quotes, so I will post one everyday so that you too can feel inspired while on this new adventure with God.

  3. Hi Kabita!
I am so sorry that I missed send off today. I was with you in spirit and just know that you have jumped into this experience with an open heart. I am excited to hear what you think about Cran Hill and your house for the next week, the Stone Cottage. There will be so many opportunities in the following days for you to learn, grow, and for you to share and connect with other girls your age. I hope when we hit the trail later in the week you will walk with me and fill me in on all you have been doing. Stay brave, stay positive, and enjoy every minute!

  4. Good Morning Kabita,

I’m hopeful yesterday was a fun and exciting day for you. This morning as I write I am sitting on an elevated balcony watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean and listening to the waves crash onto the sand. I wish I could post a picture for you. As I sit here and look out at his creation I’m reminded of how good our God is. The sun, the moon, the stars, the ocean, the trees, the animals and everything in between. He created all of this for you and I to enjoy. I encourage you today to take a moment to really experience some of the amazing things that God created for us. Listen for the birds in the trees, feel the wind in your face, look at the stars, smell the flowers. I pray that you can just stop and take a moment today to do that. If your willing, I’d love for you to reply back with what you saw, heard, smelled or felt today as you observed all that God created.

    Praying for you- Matt

    1. Thank you for this meaningful message! Every word you have inserted in the message is really beautiful.
I hope you have an amazing day forever on. May god be with you at all time, no matter the distance.

      Sincerely,
      Kabita Gurung

  5. Good Morning Kabita!
I hope you had fun yesterday on the wall climb. I saw the wall on facebook, that was very high! It reminded me of this verse:
“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I.” ~ Psalm 61:2
Praying for a safe and God filled journey today.
    ~MeLiSsa

    1. Yes I was on the rock wall and it was scary at first but it became very exciting. I didn’t expect it to be so fun with all these amazing people I’ve met so far! It’s only been two days and I feel like I’m already best friends with everyone here.

Thank you for messaging me! Have a great day!

      Sincerely,
      Kabita Gurung

  6. Hi!

It was great meeting you yesterday!
Something that I thought I would share with you comes from the book of Esther in the bible, which I highly recommend you read because I think you would enjoy it!

One of my most favorite verses in the bible comes from this passage,

“If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

Esther was placed into royalty, not by chance, but for a purpose. God’s blessing is greater than our troubles. Always. His goodness will shine through. It’s just the way He works.

God has put you where He put you for a specific reason. I think we spend too long in our life trying to figure out where God wants us to be or wishing we were somewhere else instead of just allowing God to do something with our life where we are.

God has placed you here and in the hands of those who care about you, don’t forget that.

    Tae

    1. Thank you for the message! 😁 It was great meeting you yesterday too! And I’ll try to read the book called Esther in the Bible. I hope you have an amazing day, as well as a positive 🌈and prosperous life forever on.

May god bless you and the beloved around you.
Once again thank you for this wonderful message!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  7. Good morning Kabita~
I have been looking at the pictures from your first full day at camp, and all I can say is “WOW”! The climbing wall looks incredibly high. I am so proud of you for being willing to jump right in there! How was your experience in the barn? What is your horse’s name? What has been your favorite part of camp so far?
I am taking a short hike today in order to practice for Thursday. I can’t wait to see you and hear all about how God is building strength in your heart.
    ~Whitney

  8. Hi Kabita,

I hope your morning is starting off well. I read the group update from your second day and I must confess that I’m a little envious:) I really enjoy horseback riding and I LOVE Culvers Ice Cream. It sounds like you had a very eventful day.
I’m praying today that you will have confidence in yourself and your abilities. Be courageous as you go about your day. When I am scared or struggling with my confidence I think about Jesus and how courageous he was as he carried that heavy cross that he was later nailed to to save us from our sins. I think it’s important for us to understand that Jesus didn’t want to die, he wasn’t looking forward to it. In fact in Matthew 26:39 Jesus prayed, “my father , if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as you will”. He would have preferred a different way, some other way than death on a cross. He then prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done”. I often reflect on how much courage that must have taken. I encourage you to think of this the next time you are facing challenge, it might just give you the extra confidence you need to face your challenge.

    Have a great day Kabita!

    1. Thank you for this amazing message! It encouraged me and made me feel more confident.
I’m communicating more with the others and I’m really funny as well. It feels like my team mates aren’t my team mates, it feels like they’re my best friends.

And thank you so much for encouraging me.
Have a great day and meaningful life!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  9. That’s so great to hear Kabita!
I saw more pictures of horseback riding today. That looked fun as well. I hope you are finding joy in the journey God has set before you. I think we all need to take time to be more present in Gods creation. Have a great day today!

~There will come a time when every step of the journey GOD is taking you on will make sense. Until then, keep trusting him.

    1. Yes thank you for this message!
And I had a lot of fun riding the horse Caspian. All of them were great horses but Caspian made me feel comfortable.

It was fun riding the horses around the arena and playing a game.
I hope you have an amazing day!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  10. Hi Kabita! I will be joining you Thursday for the weekend hike. I can’t wait to meet you! I’m excited to be a part of this hiking experience with everyone. I hope you have been enjoying meeting new people and having new adventures over the past few days. It looks awesome! See you soon! The trail is going to be great!! – Leah

    1. Thank you for this message!
I look forward to meeting you on the trail on Thursday! It may be a long walk but if god can handle a nail on his body, then we can walk miles if we just think we can.

      Have a good day!

      -Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  11. Hey there,

It was great to see all of the fun and exciting things you did yesterday. The water course and zip line looked very exciting….were you at all nervous or scared? 40 ft in the air is a long way up.

How cool that you had an opportunity to hear about Jen’s experiences and how she overcame obstacles in her life. I hope that you can find encouragement in that and know that you too can do the same.

Your weather looks very good today, I’m praying that you will have another exciting and adventure packed day.

    God Bless,
    Matt

    1. Thank you for this amazing message! I really loved the lake but I couldn’t swim so my good friend Stacie stayed with me on the shallow part and collected rocks from the water and seashells.

I loved the zip line since it felt like I was flying and it was scary at first.
I really hope tomorrow will be an amazing day! I found the story of Jen really encouraging and amazing, I’ve gone through similar problems but nothing involving drugs. I was stressed but now I’m happy and cheery.

      Once again thank you!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  12. Kabita came to camp without really knowing what to expect. She shared that she was nervous to come and it can hard to open up to others. Kabita has pushed herself to step outside of her comfort zone and interact with all the other girls. She has let her personality show and shared her thoughts and ideas with groups. She had also given her full and eager participation in every activity. She has been a great leader to the others girls by doing the right thing. Kabita’s personal goal is to continue to open up and interact with everyone.

    1. Thank you for this really awesome message! I really did enjoy this “vacation” (camp). I was nervous at first but now that I know everyone else really well and the staffs, I feel like I’ve been here for ages.

I really love everyone and sometimes I end up doing weird things. And I’m really happy that everyone is weird and funny as well! 🙂

You’re an amazing staff and so are the rest! I really love how calm you are especially Janelly (Jelly bean). And you’re impressively positive.

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  13. Hi Kabita!
I’m so thrilled to hear of all the fun activities you get to participate in! I love the outdoors, but sadly I do not like winter so its a must to enjoy as many outdoor activities in the summer and fall. I have also been zip lining in Belize. (so fun!) I also enjoy kayaking and just sitting out on our little lake we live on.
I can’t wait to see what you girls do next!

    1. Thank you very much for this amazing message you sent me!
I really enjoy outdoors with people I enjoy hanging out with. And I only stay indoors if I don’t have much people to hang out with outside at home. My friends don’t live around my area so that’s the problem.

And I don’t really like winter either but the cool air is so refreshing. I always wonder what winter would be with warmth instead of cold.
Once again thank you for this kind message and the beautiful quote!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  14. HI Kabita,

I’m beyond excited for you and how things are going this week. It sounds like you are making some great friends and you are really opening up and putting your best foot forward. Way to go!!

I climbed up to the top of the tallest lighthouse this morning on Cape Hatteras Island. I was a little nervous at first for a couple of reasons:
    1. It was very warm and humid inside the lighthouse
    2. There was barely enough room for two people to pass by each other as we went up and some came down
    3. It was a lot of steps, 258 to be exact and it was a winding stairway.

I was very tired when I reached the top but the reward was so worth it. We were so high in the air we could see way out into the ocean and over the trees.

I’m really glad that I mustered up the courage to climb up to the top today. The reward was so worth it.

I encourage you to continue to be courageous this week. You are doing so well and I hope you can finish this week out strong.

    God Bless!

    Matt

    1. Thank you for this message! And wow you climbed up a lighthouse? Cool! I probably can’t even climb a ladder without support.

I did the zip line after climbing the ladder since the ladder was tied tightly. It was fun but scary at first so I had Glen push me as I shut my eyes.
It felt like I was falling but I was in the air on the zip line. And it felt like Heaven.

      Have an amazing day!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  15. Hi…my name is Gretchen and I’m a friend of many of the leaders. I’ve been praying for you and the team this week. I started a new job and I’m alone cleaning houses for 8 hours straight… so it’s plenty of time to talk to God about you this week. I got creative today and thought of an acrostic poem about your hike:
T – trying to trust others
    R – recognize & receive Him
    A – all around me
    I – imperfect but whole
L – learning to be me

    1. Thank you so much! And I hope you get enough rest after 8 hours of cleaning! Must be hard to do it alone. Are there any other helpers?

We are going on the trail tomorrow morning or afternoon WITHOUT the horses. :C
But it’s fun to walk with someone we all get along with or know well.

      Thank you for this message!

      Sincerely,
      -Kabita Gurung

  16. Hi Kabita,

I’ve been thinking about you today as you’ve been on the trail. I heard that it rained this morning and I really hope you didn’t get rained on all day. How did your horse do? Were you able to work with him/her to guide you safely through the trail? Did the horse give you any problems along the way? Hopefully not.

I saw that you made masks today to represent what you show the world and what you keep to yourself. That sounds like a really fun exercise. I think we all have a hard time with this from time to time and it’s so important to know and understand that God loves us for who we are regardless of the mask we have on that day.

I’m praying that you will be who God designed you to be and that you don’t feel like you have to wear a mask.

    Praying for you,
    Matt

  17. Hi Kabita,
I hope the trail was awesome! I hear there are so many nice trails in Michigan. Michigan is so beautiful in the summer. I hope this weather continues now that it is officially SuMmEr!!!

I was thinking of you yesterday as I did not get a message to you:(
I worked 10 hours and then my daughter played in a softball tournament till late. She has played every night this week and heading to another in an hour. If they win tonight they play in the championship tomorrow. So exciting!!

Keep up the amazing work! I hope you make some long lasting friendships with these leaders and girls.

Have a great weekend and enjoy your final days of camp.

  18. Hi Kabita,

The photos of the trail and your camping locations are so amazing. It looks like you are all having a really fun time. I must say those packs looks really heavy, I imagine the hike gets challenging as the day goes on.

My family and I are on a bit of a challenging journey today as well. We’re traveling home from The outer banks and driving straight through (17 hours)The traffic has been challenging and I had to pray that God would grant me patience as we made our way through the busy highways. The kids are doing well but getting a little antsy.

I hope your evening finishes out well and that you make it home safely tomorrow.

Thanks for allowing me to share this time with you on your journey and for your comments back.

    Matt
