  1. Hi Jorge!
Our names are Ben and Gretchen Burk! We live here in Allendale and have 2 high school kids of our own! We will be partnering and praying for your adventure this week as you work with other team members and enjoy God’s creation!
We will pray for extra shady trees on your path and cool nights to relax and enjoy the company of some awesome people who care for you a ton!
    Take care,
    Ben and Gretchen

  2. Hi Jorge,

I’m Praying for you this week! I can’t wait to hear about your adventures on how your first day with the horses went!

“Blessed is the Man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his Hope and Confidence.” Jeremiah 17:7

    Have fun!

  3. Hi Jorge,
I’m another one of your prayer partners for the week. My computer is on the blink, so I’ll have to get creative about getting to other computers to be able to write. I’m praying that God blesses you real big this week and that you have a wonderful time with the other guys. Of course, I pray for you every day anyway, but I believe this week is going to be special.

  4. Looks like you had a super day climbing that wall! I’m terrified of heights so that would be a challenge for me! Yikes! And the rope or string challenge thing looked tough! Definitely team work and perseverance at work! I looked up the definition of perseverance: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success!
I’ll be praying for you to “stay the course” and for you to see and live out what God will bring you through this week! I’ll be praying for your PERSEVERANCE!
    You got this, Jorge!

  5. Hi Jorge!

Looks like a great day with the horses! I hope you are having fun. Praying you are building great friends with the other teens and the staff. Be courageous this week! God is with you.
    Have fun!

  6. Hey Jorge,

It looks like you are having an incredible time. I saw that you started riding your horse. How fun! You look like a natural at archery. Bet that came in handy for archery tag….hopefully you can shoot Patrick for me 🙂 last time I played with him he shot me in the back.

My prayer is that today you continue to build strong relationships with the other campers and staff, but most importantly GOD. When you begin to worry, seek HIM for comfort. He is guiding every step of this journey for you. TRUST HIM

    Have a great day today!

  7. Hey there! Looks like you had a great day with the horses! I think they are pretty amazing animals! I wondered if it stormed last night there? I could hear the thunder in the distance and was reminded that though this world is a dark and gloomy place sometimes, when you walk with Jesus you will never be alone. And when you call on the name of the Lord He will answer! I pray you never feel alone, Jorge!
Have a great day on the ranch!

  8. Hello Jorge- Hope you are enjoying many new experiences at camp along with opening up yourself to friends and staff. You will be amazed by all the love around you. You already have the greatest love of all from JESUS. He wonderfully made you and no one can take your place. You are so special and loved and wants only the best for you. He is always with you through everything and will never leave you. Can’t wait to hear about all the fun you will have.

    1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. God is love.”

  9. Hi Jorge,
I got kicked off the computer at the library yesterday just before I sent you a note, but I’ve got a little extra time today.
The camp looks like a lot of fun. And those horses are almost as big as Diesel.
Enjoy the activities. I see there’s a big hike coming up, but I know you’ve got the endurance for that, since you used to run with your dad. I also know that God has great plans for you this week.
    Blessings! Love ya!

  10. Hello Jorge – Happy Wednesday, we enjoyed seeing the pictures of all you campers on the climbing wall and with the horses. It’s great to be out in nature around all the beauty that God has created from the woods, the animals and you campers. I hope that you are connecting with your leaders as they love you and want the best for you. I hope you know that you can do anything with God. Enjoy your day tomorrow. What has been your favorite thing at camp so far?

Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through Christ”.

  11. Today you hit the trail after what looks like a great time at camp! Take what you have learned at camp and ponder those things in your heart as you walk! I will pray that on your hike you will see life–and every day challenges- through Gods eyes…. eager and unafraid. Set your mind on things above, not just what’s going on here. Be rooted and grounded in His love for you! And HAVE FUN, Jorge!

  12. Hi Jorge. It looks like you are having a fun week. I hope that you are listening & learning & that you are able to apply this week to your life at school & home. I hope you continue to have a good week & are able to continue enjoying life, once you are no longer at the ranch. Love mom & dad.

  13. Hi Jorge,
This will be the last time I get to write here, since I’m heading out to Zambia tomorrow and won’t have internet access. But I’ll still be praying for you.
Have a great time on the hike and last days of camp. Many blessings!

  14. OK, one more post, since the camp page didn’t show up before. Looks like you’re having a Magic experience. Or as they say, “Hold your horses!” Horses act like people sometimes, going against what we’re supposed to do in spite of instructions otherwise.

  15. Hello Jorge- Great job riding the horse today. We have enjoyed seeing all the pictures of all of you in the water and with the horses and the activities all in the midst of our God. You are learning new skills, friendship, relationships with leaders. I hope that you have been open to all of this and know that God will help you through anything all you have to do is ask for his help. He is love and has amazing love for you and everyone in your life. I pray you know his love and give this love back to others as this is what God wants us to do. His love covers any wrong in our lives and is very powerful. We can’t wait to hear about the trail adventures.

    1 John 4:16
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

  16. Hello Jorge – How exciting hiking in the woods being alone with nature, animals and God. What a great time to be at peace with everything. Take time to allow your mind to be open to your leaders and friends and most important to God. God is so good and full of love for us and wants the best for us, he does not want us to be afraid and he is always with us. Can’t wait to see more pictures.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

  17. Hey there, Jorge.
Well…you’re out there in the woods somewhere, as I type this, and I smile knowing you have a whole ton of people, like me, praying for you and thinking about you! The last two nights have been beautiful outside. I’m excited to learn more about your adventures and to see where He leads you this next year. Remember: when you lose our way, may Jesus be your guide! He is your help and comfort. He will shelter and surround you in love so tender that you will know His presence and peace!
    Lean on Him, Jorge!
    Ben and Gretchen

  18. Hello Jorge- The pictures have been awesome of all you campers in the woods and although this camp is coming to an end I pray that the friendships with other campers and leaders will continue. The greatest friendship we can have is with Jesus and he will always love you no matter what is going on in your life and hope that you will trust in him. We are blessed with the opportunity to pray for you. Thanks!
    Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
